x.x3c screenshot One day, I downloaded X3 by Jake Luck and fell in love with it at first double click.

During the customary snoop through the package contents (like you do...) I noticed that all the models were contained in .wmc files.

Opening these in a text editor, it was plain to see that the models were described in a regular text listing of points and planes - so I set about creating my own models.

After some initial confusion with hidden surface removal I realized that a lot of planning with pen and paper was needed to create new models, and reverse engineering existing models was quite tricky.
So, I sat down and wrote X3Edit.

Note for users upgrading from the beta:

X3Edit 0.1.0 Beta 2 was compiled and linked using Apple's Puma Developer Tools, the final release version with the Jaguar tools.

Somewhere between Puma and Jaguar the method that X3Edit uses to convert wireframe WMC format models to solid X3C's broke.

If you have any old WMC wireframe models lying around that you want to convert to solid X3C's, then you're going to need to convert them with X3Edit 0.1.0 Beta 2.

You can find the beta on the downloads page.

Many thanks to Yuke Asayama whose X3 models are shown in some of the screenshots on these pages.
